Support for basketball in the regions of Russia by NBA and SIBUR
NBA Cares is the league’s global social responsibility program that builds on the NBA’s mission of addressing important social issues in the United States and around the world since 2005. The support of the program in Russia is initiated by SIBUR. SIBUR and NBA began their partnership at the beginning of 2014, with the goal of developing and promoting of basketball in Russia through the renovation of buildings and sports fields, as well as recreation leisure time of teenagers.
Under the partnership ten sports facilities were refurbished in Perm, Tolyatti, Tomsk, Voronezh, Tobolsk, Nizhnevartovsk, Dzerzhinsk, Tyumen and Blagoveschensk. The court refurbishment process includes infrastructure renovation and installation of a new multi-functional court. The gym is outfitted with modern equipment set to NBA standards. The launch ceremonies were attended by NBA stars and legends: twins Brook and Robin Lopez, Robert Horry, Muggsy Bogues, A. C. Green, Bruce Bowen, Andrew Kirilenko and Andre Lloyd Miller. The players conducted clinics for local children on the refurbished courts. The overall outcomes in top federal & regional print & online media, including TV and radio shows, exceeded the number of 500.
